The Cristiano Ronaldo Effect: Juventus Leapfrog Manchester United In Instagram Followers

The Portuguese superstar joined the Old Lady in the summer of 2018 and now, Juve have reaped the rewards since, now eclipsing Ronaldo’s former side United on the social media front.

Before his arrival, Juventus had 10 million followers and have since grown rapidly amassing a massive 20 million in just one season!

They now sit in 3rd place surpassing Manchester United, Ronaldo’s former club by only 100,000 followers.

Juventus’ increase in the Instagram followers department, however, have also been bolstered by the arrival of quite a number of senior players; Matthijs de Ligt, Danilo, Cristian Romero, Luca Pellegrini, Merih Demiral, Adrien Rabiot, Aaron Ramsey and Gianluigi Buffon were all signed alongside current coach Maurizio Sarri this summer’s transfer window.

So who sits on top of the pile in the Instagram followers department currently?

  1. Real Madrid – 77.6 million followers
  2. Barcelona – 76.4 million followers
  3. Juventus – 31.1 million followers
  4. Manchester United – 31 million followers
  5. PSG – 23.8 million followers.

Christiano Ronaldo on his own has 181 million followers in comparison. Such a rare case where a player is actually bigger than a club by many a book!
